One of the best ice cream concoctions is undeniably the milkshake. Whether chocolate or vanilla, with candy or without, many summer memories have been made while sipping on America's favorite cold drink (well, next to beer, that is). While McDonald's and Wendy's do make a fine shake, these five local establishments take the classic milkshake up a notch. Check out one of them soon.

Happy sipping!

Central Standard- S'more Loaded Shake

So Central Standard has milkshakes that are unlike any other on the list, and that's because they're packed with booze. Yes, alcoholic milkshakes, people. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. While CS also has delicious non-alcoholic shakes on their menu for the 21 and under crowd, it's their boozy S'more Shake that really keeps you coming back for, well, more. Filled with Godiva Liquor and packed with marshmallow creme goodness, the graham cracker topped treat is a far cry from the s'mores you made at camp...And that's a great thing.

2239 Falcon Ave, Bettendorf.

Lagomarcino's- Chocolate Shake

Lagomarcino's has a lot of tasty treats on their menu, including sundaes, sodas, and malts. But since Lago's is an old fashioned style confectionary, we are big fans of their classic chocolate shake. You really can't go wrong when it comes to a chocolate shake, but the fact that they make their own ice cream brings it to another, even more delicious level. For those not into chocolate, Lago's also offers orange, pineapple, root beer,  lime, cherry, vanilla, strawberry, and black raspberry. Yum!

Country Style Ice Cream-Peanut Butter Banana

Country Style has around 50 different shake ingredients on their menu, making the flavor combinations pretty much infinite. And the fact that they use soft serve ice cream really sets them apart. One of our favorites has to be the Peanut Butter Banana. We'd like to think it's the kind of shake Elvis would appreciate. Add some hot fudge  in if you're feeling daring.

Whitey's- Boston Shake

Even if it's the most obvious, we would be remiss if we didn't include Whitey's on the list. And the Boston shakes at Whitey's are in a league of their own. Choose any flavor of  shake you like and it is topped with a scoop of ice cream and hot fudge. So yeah, it's basically a shake with a sundae on top, aka ice cream paradise.

Big Dave and Holly's Dairy Sweet- Turtle Shake

If you've never heard of Big Dave and Holly's, you're in for a treat. Not only do they cook up tasty burgers, but their also known for their ice cream. According to regulars, their turtle shake is tough to beat. Check it out the next time you're shopping or picking in LeClaire.
