5 Things to Do in the Quad Cities Before Summer is Over

The kids may have headed back to school, but that doesn't mean that summer is officially over just yet. With temps still in the 80's and plentiful sunshine, it's a must to get outside while we still can. It may seem hard to believe, but just a few short months from now, the snow will be flying. Don't let the summer pass you by; grab the fam and check off one of these fun activities from your summer bucket list.

1. River Bandits Game

There are a handful of home games let for the River Bandits, so make sure to get down to Modern Woodman as much as you can these next couple of weeks. There are lots of giveaways and specials going on, including free pint glasses to the first 1,000 fans this Friday, August 26th, free Bier Stube beer steins for the first 1,500 fans this Saturday, August 27th, $1 ferris wheel rides on Monday, August 29th, and WWE ticket giveaways on the 29th and 31st.

2. Channel Cat Water Taxi Ride

We're big fans of the Channel Cat, the water taxi that stops at the Isle Casino, East Village, and John Deere Landing in downtown Moline. If you haven't had a chance to take a trip yet this year, now is the time. There's nothing like a relaxing day on the water, and there are plenty of fun places to shop, eat, drink and hang out at each stop.

3. Swim!

Even if your kids are back at school during the week, there's still some time to partake in a little aquatic fun. Most pools and splash pads have revised hours until Labor Day, but are still open on weekends. If you haven't had the chance to swim as a family yet, now is the time!

4. Attend a Festival

If you missed out on the county fair, but are still in the mood for a little festival action, you're in luck. River Roots Live music festival is this weekend (Friday and Saturday)  along with Silvis' Moonlight Parade and Festival on Saturday from 10 AM- 11 PM. East Fest in the Village of East Davenport takes place on Sunday, September 4th from 1-10 PM.

5. Eat (and drink!) on a Patio
