6 Sensational Spring Beers In The Quad Cities
Quad Cities On Tap is April 16th, a chance for you to sample more than 100 beers from across the country. A lot of those beers will be seasonal, and the QC has a wide array of Spring beers for all tastes!
Here's where you can find these bodacious brews, along with descriptions from the brewers themselves:
GREAT RIVER BREWERY - Davenport
Honey Hemp: We started this traditional classic style with German pilsner and Munich malt, but altered it with a higher alcohol level and generous use of Northwestern hops. Added some locally harvested honey for subtle aromas and flavors and hemp for nutty character. Great RiverBrewery.com
Imperial Barrel Aged Stout: We started with a well-built imperial stout. Roasty, creamy, and warming, then decided to age the entire batch in whiskey barrels for 3 months and added real Madagascar vanilla beans. GreatRiverBrewery.com
BENT RIVER BREWING CO. - Moline, Rock Island
Raspberry Shandy: This thirst-quenching, light-bodied summer ale is enhanced by lemonade and a hint of raspberry flavor.
Blueberry Uncommon Stout: A seasonal update to Bent River's most popular beer, a coffee and oatmeal stout enhanced with fresh blueberry flavor and finished with just a kiss of cinnamon.
Blue Cat Brew Pub - Rock Island
Blue Cat Porter: Another classic beer, Blue Cat is a rich smooth Porter with a distinct smoky taste. A deep copper color, medium body and thick rich head help to round off a very fine beer.
Green Tree Brewery - LeClaire
Gruner Baum Hefeweizen: South German style unfiltered wheat ale. Smooth unique banana and clove aroma and flavor.
The QC can certainly hold its own when it comes to brewing. I'm by no means a beer snob (I know porters and stouts are dark, IPAs are bitter, and that's about it) so I'd strongly encourage you to try these all for yourself and see what you like!
