Us midwesterners love to complain about the cold during the winter and complain about the heat during the summer. The fact is, we aren't an expert on either side of the season. Just when we get used to one season, the next one knocks us on our butt. It's time to get ready for the summer and here are 7 things you can do to stay healthy this summer.

STAY HYDRATED
By hydrate I mean drink WATER. Drink as much water as you possibly can. Stay away from sugary drinks. Gatorade's "electrolytes" may sound appealing but nothing keeps you hydrated better than good ol' H20.

USE SUNBLOCK
Be sure to use sun tan lotion. Word on the street is the rub on stuff doesn't work like the real stuff. You'll be surprised how much sunblock will stop your body from burning!

WORK OUT
Working out will condition your body which, in turn, will make it easier for you to stand the heat. The more out of shape you are, the worse your body will take a beating from the heat.

EXFOLIATE
From your lips to your toes. Keep that chap stick handy and the lotion ready.

GET WET
Nothing cools the body down better than a dip in the pool. Slip and slides could do the trick too!

EAT HEALTHY
Easier said than done, I know. BUt again, if you treat your body right, it will make it run better in hot summer conditions. Our bodies are no different than our cars. If you don't want to break down easily... Treat your body right!

STAY SHADY
Any chance your get, find a shaded area and hang out in it. Or just hang inside. Unless you are tanning, you should probably just avoid the sun at all cost.

Bonus: Stay sober. ;)
