If there's one thing schools are great at, it's coming up with new and exciting ways to make school less enjoyable for students. Case in point, a New Jersey school district has decided to ban cupcakes, birthday cake and other sweets from student celebrations.

The Superintendent claims the district instituted the ban because too many kids have food allergies:

"This is not an attempt to discourage the birthday celebrations. It is a way to identify alternative opportunities to celebrate each child’s birthday that are not potentially jeopardizing those students with health or allergy-related issues." -The Daily Caller

This same school district doesn't have cafeterias. Instead, a parent group PURCHASES food from local restaurants--hopefully they don't serve anything that isn't safe for Little Susie.

Taking the joy out of children's lives...that's the kind of school I'd want for my kids!
