Free Pet Adoptions For QC Vets
Here’s a cool way to honor our local vets and find fur-ever homes for dogs and cats.
The Quad City Animal Welfare Center is participating in Pets for Vets, a statewide adoption event that waives cat and dog adoption fees for veterans and active service members.
According to a KWQC-TV story, on Saturday, Nov., 11, veterans and active service members wanting to adopt should visit QCAWC’s Adoption & Education Center, 724 W. 2nd Ave., Milan. The shelter is open from noon to 5 p.m. Plan on spending at least an hour at the shelter to be matched with a pet.
Be sure to bring a government-issued photo ID and one of the following: military ID, veterans ID, or discharge paperwork. The adoption fees are being waived with thanks to sponsors. All normal adoption screening procedures will be in place.
The regular adoption fees at the Quad City Animal Welfare Center are $100 for dogs and $40 for cats. Cats and dogs are spayed or neutered, brought up to date on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and tested before they are placed up for adoption. Cats are tested for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and dogs are tested for heartworm disease.
