Construction has begun on a new performing arts center in Moline.

According to KWQC, officials broke ground on the new Moline High School Bartlett Performing Arts Center yesterday. The center is made possible through a partnership between Moline-Coal Valley School District 40 and the Robert E. Bartlett Family Foundation.

The cost of the project is being funded through the district's portion of the one percent sales tax and by the Robert E. Bartlett Family Foundation. The Bartlett foundation is providing more than $7 million to the project.

The project is expected to be completed in January of 2019
