Earlier this month, I told you about millions of dollars that the state of Illinois owes to its residents that has gone unclaimed.

Well, now it seems the state of Iowa is in a similar situation.

According to a report from KCCI-TV in Des Moines, the state treasurer is under mandate to return what are called franchise fees to Polk County residents. The amount owed is a little over $8 million.

The money is due to a class-action lawsuit against the county and state, so it can't be used for other things, it must be returned to residents.

Check here to see if you, or someone you know may be entitled to some cash from the state.

You can read more about why the money is owed here.
