David Oyelowo Will Voice Scar in ‘Lion King’ TV Series ‘The Lion Guard’
We’re still waiting for news of the live-action (ish) Lion King, but the franchise’s TV arm has its own brand-new Scar. Lion King sequel series The Lion Guard will borrow a Star Wars Rebels fan-favorite to bring Scar back to life (ish), and we’ve got the first look.
Disney Junior confirms that David Oyelowo will fill in for Jeremy Irons as the voice of Scar when The Lion Guard Season 2 debuts in July. Oyelowo will be heard Saturday, July 29 with special extended episode titled “The Rise of Scar,” the outline for which you can find below:
Scar will appear after Simba (voiced by Rob Lowe) and Nala’s (voiced by Gabrielle Union) son, Kion (voiced by Max Charles), uses the Roar of the Elders in a fit of anger, which will unintentionally summon Scar in the flames of a volcano!
Here’s a first look at the return:
The Lion Guard has previously featured several stars from the original 1994 film, including James Earl Jones’ Mufasa and Ernie Sabella’s Pumbaa. The Lion Guard Season 2 will premiere on July 7, so stay tuned for more on Scar’s return later in the month.
