Hollywood is on fire this holiday! What? Too soon?

But seriously. The crop of new movies coming out for Christmas is pretty remarkable. I may not want to sit around with the fam at home and share stories of old. I'd rather grab a bucket of corn and a cold beverage and head to "a theater near you" as my sister used to call it.

Obviously Star Wars: The Last Jedi is dominating the box office. Also, Ferdinand is hanging in second for the kids.

December 20th brings a couple movies. First, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Dewayne "The Rock" Johnson star in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Four high school kids are forced to clean out the school basement as part of their detention. They find a "Jumanji" video game and get transported into it as the characters they choose.

Also out that day is The Greatest Showman staring Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum in the story of how he created the Barnum and Bailey Circus and got people in the 1800s to accept his troupe of outcasts.

The 22nd brings Pitch Perfect 3. Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and the rest of the Bellas reunite for one last singing competition as part of an overseas USO tour where their competition all perform with instruments.

Also on the 22nd, Matt Damon stars in Downsizing. Pry not a word anyone wants to hear this time of year. Damon is shrunk down to five inches tall so he can have a better life in a "downsized" community.

There are 2 others opening on the 22nd. Father Figures with Owen Wilson and Ed Helms and the Steven Spielberg directed film The Post with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks.

Check local listing for show times.
