When it comes to our children's school safety, is there such a thing as too safe?

There is a new system being tested out in some Iowa school districts this year. It's called W.I.S.E. (Wi-Fi Internet for School Emergencies) and will allow law enforcement and first-responders to access cameras inside schools in the event of an emergency.

This system would allow secure access to cameras in schools by emergency personnel so they could see what is occurring in the school, in real time, via wi-fi. Officials can upload and download information that will help them assess the situations inside and help keep as many people as safe as possible during an emergency.

There are three schools who will pioneer this pilot program in Iowa, according to QCtimes.com:

The State is seriously considering extending this technology to all schools once they learn if these programs are successful where the pilot program will be.
