UPDATE (11/23/16 3:13 p.m.): Police have identified the  victim in one of Burlington's shootings on Monday and Tuesday.

Breion Isiah Combs, 28, of Chicago was found slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle in the area of Gunnison and Aetna on Nov. 22.

An autopsy is being performed at University of Iowa Hospitals to determine the cause of death.

 

ORIGINAL STORY: One is dead and two more are wounded following several shootings on Monday and Tuesday.l

The first incident occurred at about 11:18 Monday night, November 21 in the 2100 block of Williams Street.

Police found 23-year-old Donald Hunt shot in the lower body. He was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated.

Then, Tuesday morning at 9:48 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Market and Gunnison for reports of a shots fired incident.

When police arrived on scene, they found a man collapsed over the steering wheel of a vehicle, with a gunshot wound, at Aetna and Gunnison.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name is not being released at this time.

While officers were on scene, they heard multiple gunshots one block to the west.

They discovered a home in the 400 block of S. Garfield had multiple gunshots and the suspects fled the scene.

Police were notified that James Griffin, 35, of Chicago showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound from that incident a short time later. He was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals for further treatment.

Police learned that the suspect vehicle in the S. Garfield shooting had fled south from the scene and the vehicle was spotted by Des Moines County deputies, who then pursed it.

The vehicle came to a stop in the area of Summer and Grove.

The three men detained have be identified and charged:

Holland Joseph Ewing, 27, of Chicago, was charged with intimidation with dangerous weapon. A Class 'C' felony. He has $10,00 bond.

Gilbert Lee Ellis, 29, of Chicago, was charged with intimidation with dangerous weapon. A Class 'C' felony. He has $10,00 bond.

Dontis A. Davis, 27, of Matteson, Illinois, was charged with intimidation with dangerous weapon. A Class 'C' felony. He has $10,00 bond.

The shooting caused all of Burlington schools to go on lock down as a precaution. The lock down was lifted at about 1:30 p.m.
