QCA police department received praise this week. According to KWQC.com, The Rock Island Police Department received recognition from the ASPCA for busting up a dog fighting ring a year ago where 64 dogs were saved.

This Saturday is National Dog Fighting Awareness Day and the timing of the award couldn't be more perfect.

Rock Island Police Chief Jeff Venhuizen said this is a great honor and is proud of his department.

Since police busted up this ring, a third of those dogs have been adopted, and some are still waiting to be adopted around the Quad Cities. For more, contact your local animal shelter.
