The Curtain Comes Down On The Greatest Show On Earth

According to a article on WQAD.com, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus will do their final performance on May 21st in Uniondale, New York, and you can see it live.

The circus, known as Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows, was started in 1919 when the Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, a circus created by P.T. Barnum and James Anthony Bailey, was merged with the Ringling Bros. Worlds Greatest Shows. The Ringling brothers had purchased Barnum & Bailey Ltd. following Bailey's death in 1906, but ran the circuses separately until they were merged in 1919. When the curtain comes down on the "Greatest Show On Earth" it will be broadcast on Facebook Live and at ringling.com.

The circus is a Labor Day staple in the Quad Cities. It feels like part of all our childhood has slipped away.
