The holidays are quickly approaching, and companies are already gearing up. I've already seen Christmas decorations in a few stores! The good news is, that means a whole bunch of job openings.

In the Quad Cities, those openings will be especially good this year. Unemployment in the QCA is at an 18-year low, which means a smaller selection pool for companies. As a result, they're more likely to compete for employees, offering more money and/or benefits. According to the Quad City Times, some retailers are even offering paid time off.

Target is hiring 20 percent more seasonal workers than last year, and has upped its starting wage to $12 per hour.

JCPenney is hiring more than 100 seasonal associates in the Quad-Cities area, at all skill levels, with flexible hours and a 25 percent discount on store items.

In short: if you're looking for a seasonal job, now is the time to do it. Impress them, and you're just about set for the season.
