It's one of the biggest killers in America and none of us can escape it.

I am kind of a natural stress-bomb at this point in my life. I'm a Mom who thinks about her kiddos all the time, I work many jobs, wear many hats and with the constant construction and loud banging going on outside of my studio window all day, everyday, I am surprised my stress-outness alone, didn't help Davenport, IA. rank higher on this list.

No doubt, most of the stress we have can be found in how we deal with it and how we perceive it. But is there more to it than that? Couldn't it just be as simple as what town we live in? Maybe it's more stressful becausE ... oF ...aLL ... tHE ... DANG ... BANGING!! (sorry about that, just ...see? a bit stressed over here.)

Though I might think right now, the most stressed town in Iowa is Davenport, it's not. It actually ranked 16 on the list, with Muscatine coming in at 21. Maquoketa sure is more stressed than Davenport with just barely missing the top 10.

Here are the Top 4 Stressed Cities in Iowa from Zippia.com. The stress is based on longer commutes, working longer hours, cost of living and more.

I can't believe that almost half of their population has to deal with high rent costs and just under that, are longer commutes.  The two basically go together. When you live 'out there' and love small town life, driving to the big city for work, always costs more.

The town may say 'Make Yourself at Home!' but isn't home supposed to be as stress-less as possible? The percentage of people in Perry seem to be be paying even higher rent than in Anamosa, at a whopping 49.5%. Maybe it's time to rethink the town motto.

With it's deep historical roots to The American Civil War and the Underground Railroad, it may be a town rich with history but short on insured people. Yes, it's sad but true. While the rates aren't quite as high as other cities, being able to afford and have health insurance sure does make things less stressful, especially with kids.

Bigger city, more people, equals more stress bombs. I know some fine people from the Des Moines area but their jobs are pretty stressful. Here, it seems the commute time may be lower but with a population of 206,702, stuff is just gonna happen.

Like construction. In the spring and summer, there is always going to be that in Iowa.
