There’s A Winter Storm Warning for the QCA-Travel Will Be Dicey

The National Weather Service has now made it a Winter Storm WARNING for the Quad Cities on Sunday.  According to our Local 4 News and Weather partners, that means confidence is high on a widespread, high impact winter weather event on Sunday.  Snow totals and wind forecasts are still on track with our Saturday night forecast, which calls for most of the Quad Cities area to receive 4 to 7 inches of snow.

If you have travel plans for late this weekend, and leaving today is an option, it'd be a good idea to consider that now.

Local 4 Weather professionals say this storm is likely going to cause some serious traffic troubles around the Quad Cities (and Iowa and Illinois for that matter) by Sunday.  That's poor timing with so many people heading home after the holiday weekend.

The storm rolls in late Saturday night and Sunday morning.  We'll first see a mix of rain and snow, and that quickly changes over to all snow.  It's too early to say exactly what we'll get in the Quad Cities, but parts of the Midwest are likely to receive 4 to 6 inches of snow.

Winds will be up too as the powerful storm races through the Midwest.

Traffic conditions will be at their worst Sunday afternoon and night. Please be cautious as you make your plans and navigate the QCA in the next two days.
