When I was growing up, my parents always taught me to look both ways before I crossed the street. To this day, as a responsible adult, I still do it. As a parent, I not only make my daughter look both ways, but I also still make her take my hand before we cross a street. She will not cross a street if I'm with her without my hand. If I go to cross and I don't have her hand, she wont cross.

According to KWQC.com, a 12-year-old girl was struck by a car crossing at Kimberly and Bridge. It's almost summer. Kids will be out of school soon and will be everywhere, going to friends houses to hang out with friends, maybe going to the pools, heading to summer school...etc.

A recent study from the university of Iowa shows many kids under 14 aren't mentally developed enough to cross streets safely on their own. Kids, that's why we have cross walks with signals. Lets have a safe summer and cross the streets the right way.
