Millions of Americans will take to the roads this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, and some of them will irritate the bejesus out of us.

I see it all the time and it drives me nuts: folks driving along in the left lane of a multi-lane roadway, often slower than folks in the right lane are going.

Most offenders don't even realize they are actually breaking the law when doing so, but every state in the union has a law about the proper use of the left-lane of a multi-lane highway.

In Iowa, according to Vox.com, "the law says any car that's moving slower than the 'normal speed of traffic' should be in the right lane.

In Illinois, you are only permitted to use the left lane to pass a slower vehicle in the right lane.

The laws are designed to ensure smooth flow of traffic and make sure everyone gets to where their going in a timely fashion.

So, don't be that guy who lingers in the passing lane. No one wants to waste a minute of their holiday weekend.
