They go by many names, slurpee, slushy, Icy. No matter what you call them this frozen Deseret, and sugary drink is beloved in the Midwest. When ever I stop at a gas station and go in, I usually snag one.

Sadly this year according to Kwqc There were no free Slurpees at 7-Eleven on Saturday July 11th, but there is some good news with this story!

I have always loved the simplicity of July 11th. You literally just get a free slurpee from 7-Eleven. This tradition has been going on for the last 20 years for 7-Eleven, but this year it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 cases. Another fun summer tradition taken away.

7-Eleven’s chief marketing officer, Marissa Jarratt did make a good point when she stated,

"Gathering nine million of our closest friends in stores on one day just didn’t feel right."

But here is the good news to come out of this. The Company will be donating 1 million meals to Feeding America, a hunger relief group. While I will miss my free Delicious desert, I am happy to see this. Many companies have been trying this. Where they can't due a traditional event they rather donate and help the community.
