On the heels of of JC Penney, Gordmans, and Radio Shack closures, the future of the Quad Cities' Payless ShoeSource stores could be in jeopardy.

According to Cosumerist, Payless is planning on filing for bankruptcy as early as next week. The company will close between 400-500 stores nationwide, but have not yet announced which locations are on the chopping block.

There is some hopeful news, however. Payless had originally planned on closing 1,000 stores, but luckily the amount has been scaled back to half of their original estimate. The company plans to "reorganize" after closing stores, but we're not sure exactly what that would look like.

The Quad Cities have four Payless stores- two in Davenport, and two in Moline. Here's hoping the QC locations make the cut. It would be another sad loss for our area if they don't.
