There are several places in the QC willing and ready to help you for free.

Taxes can be a daunting enough task to get completed each year. For some, it's more of a nightmare than others. And then, there's the money to pay your tax preparer.

If you make less than $57,000/year, local organizations wish to help give you a little breathing room at tax time. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) through the United Way is offering free services at 14 locations in the Quad Cities, according to WQAD.com.

"Appointments can be made from February 1 through April 15, 2017 by dialing 2-1-1, which is United Way’s 25/7 confidential information and referral line."
