It doesn't matter whether you call it "Coke," "Pop," or "Soda," there's a fizzy drink we all enjoy- many of us more than once a day. Soda has been around for close to 250 years, and it's a drink that's not going away anytime soon.

Before the soda aisle was controlled by just a few companies, little shops across the country would make their own varieties, sometimes even mixing them together right in front of your eyes!

Why did we see some hit billions of dollars in annual sales, while others disappeared completely? Quite a few factors.

First, it's taste. Some just plainly were loved a little bit more than others, but some that deserved more credit than they got fell by the wayside because of marketing, location, or getting bought out and killed off by one of the big brands. There's a variety of reasons the drinks you see below no longer exist.

Name ten current sodas, and I don't mean the cherry, mango and vanilla varieties of the big names. I mean if you can name 10 sodas, you'll have the top 10 sellers.

10 - 7-Up (Just under $1 billion annually sold)
9 - Sunkist
8 - Sierra Mist
7 - Fanta
6 - Sprite
5 - Mountain Dew
4 - Dr. Pepper
3 - Pepsi
2 - Diet Coke (This is probably so high because of you McDonald's Diet Coke religists)
1 - Coca-Cola (Over $36.5 billion in sales every year)

Let's take a quick look at which sodas disappeared over the years, and see if you recognize any of them. While you do that, I'm going to crack one open now, because all this talk about them is making me thirsty.
