It's the midwest!  We've had a couple of cold snaps here & there followed by some warm weather that lulls us into a state of denial.  We SHOULD know better. The fact is, we'll be cozying up to a warm fire before you know it.

But, there's no need to worry.  If you prepare ahead of time, there's no reason to be left out in the cold when the arctic air comes knocking on your door.

Program your Thermostat!

Ever notice the difference in temps in spring vs fall?  When we go from summer to fall, 50 degrees seems quite chilly.  When we move from winter to spring, 50 might as well be water park weather.

Avoid the temptation to crank up that heat for the first few weeks of winter.  Your body will acclimate and your pocketbook thank you.

Is Your Car Ready?

Your car takes a beating during the cold season.  As we get into the habit of warming it up before we travel...make sure you've got your emergency kit with you.  That means an extra blanket in the back, some gloves & a hat just in case you get stranded.  Do you have an extra car charger?  Maybe one of those portable brick chargers could live in your glove compartment.

It's easy to overlook until you need them, but windshield wipers and washer fluid are extremely necessary when driving on a slushy wet road.  Replace the wipers & top off the fluid!
