Regardless of who you were cheering for, the Cy-Hawk game was one for the memory books.

As someone who isn't necessarily a fan of either team, I hope for a close game every year. I like seeing a fun matchup with both teams playing good football. If you're a diehard Hawkeye fan or you live and breathe cardinal red and gold, you likely don't mind seeing your favorite team win in blowout fashion. I enjoyed watching this fun and close matchup.

Congratulations to Iowa State and the Cyclone fans and an even bigger congratulations to Kyle Konrardy, the freshman kicker for Iowa State who just drilled one of the biggest kicks of his football career. Kyle is an Iowa native from Dubuque and he had never attempted a field goal in his college career until this past Saturday. He ended up going 2 for 3 on the day which included the 54 yard game winner.

While Iowans around the state were cheering on their team this past Saturday (September 7), there was an A-list celebrity who was hanging out in Iowa City and I'd say it was somewhat under the radar! I only found out because my sister-in-law got a photo with him and posted it on her Instagram story.

Fans of the TV show Shameless might've missed their chance to meet William H Macy! Here is my sister-in-law getting a chance to take a photo with him!

*Shout out to Piper who is a graduate of the University of Iowa for letting me use this photo and giving me a heads-up that he was here*

He was also featured on the Barstool UIowa Instagram page!

Why Was he in Iowa City?

Some fans might be wondering "Why is the guy from Shameless, Fargo, Jurassic Park 3, Boogie Nights, and Wild Hogs in Iowa City?" William H Macy was born in Florida and spent most of his childhood years in Georgia and Maryland. He doesn't have much if any, connection to Iowa, so why has he come to visit? Is he only here to watch the game?

To find out why he was here, I had to do a bit of internet sleuthing and scrolling through various social media outlets. While I can't find any type of "press" on why William was in Iowa City, here is why I believe he visited.

With all of the excitement building for the big game being played in Iowa City, William was here promoting Woody Creek Distillery. This is an alcohol brand that William is a spokesperson for.

I can't be certain he wasn't here for some type of movie business as well. Could he be possibly vying for a movie he wants to make in Iowa? That part I am unsure of but from what I gather reading through social media and Reddit, it appears this was all part of a Woody Creek Distillery promotion. He spent some time at Johns Grocery signing bottles and promoting the alcohol.

If you were in Iowa City for the game, did you get a chance to see him? Maybe you'll have a better inside scoop than what I can find on the internet? The only thing I know for certain is he was hanging out in Iowa City for the game and it was likely a business trip, mixed in with a bit of fun.

How awesome would it be if you were walking on Stadium Drive in Iowa City and as you were headed into Kinnick Stadium, you ran into Frank Gallagher from Shameless? If you were able to get a photo with William, share it in the comments!
