You can hear every Chicago Bears football game loud and clear this year on US 104.9.  That's all 3 preseason games, all 17 regular season games, and ___ playoff games.

We're not going to predict that number quite yet.  But fans are excited after an offseason that saw a new coach in the highly touted Ben Johnson.  Plus, the Bears brought in new Guard Joe Thuney from the Chiefs and Guard Jonah Jackson from the Rams to help keep star QB Caleb Williams upright.

Who else can they add to the 2025 roster that can make an early impact to lead the Bears back to the playoffs?  The hope is that they can find them in the 2025 NFL Draft.

This year's NFL Draft will be held at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  So, whoever the Bears select, don't expect them to get a very warm welcome on draft night.

The Bears hold 9 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, so there could be some room to work a few trades and move up to get the right guy if they want.  Currently they sit with:

  • Round 1 - Pick 10
  • Round 2 - Pick 39
  • Round 2 - Pick 41
  • Round 3 - Pick 72
  • Round 4 - Pick 114
  • Round 5 - Pick 148
  • Round 6 - Pick 202
  • Round 7 - Pick 233
  • Round 7 - Pick 240

All those picks, from round 1 to round 7, can step on the field in 2025 and make an impact for the Bears.  However, all eyes will be on Round 1 - Pick 10.  When you are a Top 10 pick in the NFL Draft, people expect you to start on day one and play well.

This year's draft is considered one of the more wide-open in the past few years.  There is no consensus number 1 pick, and it's lite on QBs.  A position the Bears won't be looking at.  But, it could cause shake-ups if teams decide players like Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders aren't worth a top pick; it could take one of those players the Bears like off the board early.

The Bears need help on the defensive line, the secondary, and wide receiver.  All these positions will have top-tier players available at pick 10.  Unless, of course, the Bears LOVE somebody and don't want them to slip away.

Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports has the Bears trading up to pick 4 to take Abdul Carter, the DE from Penn State.  This would be a massive move and cost the Bears some picks.  But if you want an instant impact player who some are calling the best player in the Draft, this could be your dream.

Keep an eye out for names like Jack Bech (WR, TCU), Tyler Warren (TE, Penn State), Mike Green (DL, Marshall), or Kelvin Banks (OL, Texas).  All of these were in the picks in one of the mock drafts from a CBS Sports contributor.

Now I guess it's time to make my prediction.  I think the safe bets here are the aforementioned Mike Green or Kelvin Banks.  Two areas the Bears need help and players that will probably be available at Pick 10.

But all I'm doing is writing random thoughts, so let's go big.  With the 10th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State.

You want to make an impact, there you go.  The 2024 FBS leader in rushing yards and TDs.  Give Williams that weapon out of the backfield and let the new offensive-minded coach cook.

There is a very real chance Jeanty, who is being compared to some of the all-time great running backs in the NFL, is gone before pick 10.  But there are also mock drafts that show him going as far down as pick 20.

What will happen on April 24? (And 25, 26 for the rest of the draft.)  Who knows.  But that's what makes it exciting and really puts the pieces together for another year of Chicago Bears football...which you can hear on US 104.9!
