Iowa Ranks Among the Top States That Love Halloween the Most
Iowa is proving it’s one of the top states in the country when it comes to Halloween spirit. According to a new nationwide survey by Talker Research, Iowans scored an impressive 4.1 out of 5 when asked how much they love the spooky season — earning the state a spot among the top ten Halloween-loving states in America.
Halloween Hot Spots Across the Country
The states that showed the most Halloween enthusiasm were Delaware, Idaho, and North Dakota, which each scored an average of 4.2 out of 5. Iowa tied for the next highest spot alongside Alabama, California, New Hampshire, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Wyoming.
Not Every State Feels the Fright
While Iowa is clearly a state full of haunted house hunters and candy lovers, others don’t quite share the same excitement. Arizona ranked the lowest for Halloween spirit, with an average score of 3.7, possibly due to the scorching temperatures that stick around well into October. Wisconsin, Montana, and Hawaii also landed near the bottom of the list.
A Nation of Candy Collectors
The report also revealed that the average American buys about 4.5 bags of candy every Halloween season, usually opting for the large or party-size options. Altogether, Americans purchase roughly 745 million pounds of candy each year. Chocolate remains the top pick nationwide, followed by chewy and fruity treats.
With numbers like that, it’s clear Iowa isn’t just celebrating Halloween — it’s helping lead the charge.
