TMZ has reported that comedic icon Louie Anderson has passed away after a battle with blood cancer.

On January 18th (Tuesday), TMZ reported that Anderson had been hospitalized for the treatment of Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

Early Friday morning, the news broke that Louie has passed away, with the announcement coming directly from the comedian's publicist.

The three-time Emmy Award winner had a career that spanned over 30 years, with the comedian becoming known as one of America's favorite comedians. He was “One of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time” by Comedy Central.

It was in 1984 that Louie first made his network debut as a comedian on "The Tonight Show." From then on, he went on to become a household name, starring in movies like "Coming to America" as Maurice.

More recently, Louie starred as Christine Baskets in the Zach Galifinakis show, Baskets in which Louie portrayed Zach Galifianakis.

Louie continued to tour around the globe, doing what he loved - bringing people the laughter they needed.

Louie Anderson was 68.
