Now that consumer fireworks are legal in Iowa, the Bettendorf Police Department wants to make sure residents keep usage to a minimum so as not to disturb others.

In a recent Facebook post, the PD said in Scott County, shooting off fireworks is limited to July 3 and 4 only, and the at-home show must stop by 11 PM. Additionally, you're not allowed to use fireworks on public property or parks, so that means absolutely NO use during the Middle Park show on July 4.

Those who choose not to abide by the new ordinance will face a hefty fine, starting at $250. Second-time offenders will be forced to pay $400 and third time will have to fork over $625.

The Bettendorf PD added that the ordinance is in effect for all of Scott County, but the Davenport PD has yet to issue a similar statement on the matter.
