One local figure skater did a routine that's clucking awesome.

I love figure skating but I can confirm that it can be really difficult. Let alone doing it in an inflatable chicken costume. But the figure skating community in the Quad Cities is absolutely fantastic and a local figure skater is going viral for her winning routine.

Showcase Skating posted the Reel on Instagram, which has garnered nearly 300,000 likes and almost 6 million views.

The skater making the chicken's airborne dreams come true is Mylie Shook from Milan! Mylie is a junior coach for the Figure Skating Club of the Quad Cities and attends Rock Island High School. She skated the chicken routine (called "The Believer") late last summer at the 2023 National Showcase in Massachusetts, winning the 'Open Inflatables' category.

Check out her routine here:

Awesome right? The chicken definitely flew. We're so proud of Mylie!

You Can Skate Too

It may take a hot minute to work up the wings to do Mylie's chicken routine, but you can Learn To Skate at the River's Edge in downtown Davenport. It's open to all levels and ages, kiddles through adults, and the classes have been great for me for the last year.

The lessons are mostly Thursday nights and Saturday mornings but there are homeschool sessions available. Registration for the Summer Learn to Skate session opens on June 6th. The summer session goes from July 8th-August 26th.

You can get more details on Learn To Skate on Davenport's website. See you at the rink!

New Iowa Coffee Shop Is Becoming 'Iconic' With First-Ever Design

There's a new coffee shop in Iowa and it's the first of its kind in America. Iconic Coffee + Energy (2777 18th St) in Bettendorf, has opened in the old Jiffy Lube. After construction and making the necessary changes to the building, Iconic Coffee + Energy is now the first full-enclosed, dual drive-thru coffee shop in the U.S.
