Eastern Iowa saw the brunt of Tuesday's storm. I-80 was extremely dangerous for most of the day from Des Moines to the Iowa-Illinois border. Roads everywhere were completely covered as crews tried to clear the snow but it just kept falling.

Eastern Iowa Gets Brunt Of Major Winter Storm

A major winter storm left quite a bit of snow throughout Eastern Iowa. The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities says in the past 36 hours, the area saw widespread 6+ inches. Most of this fell late Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. Snowfall totals like this haven’t been seen since 2018.

The map from the Iowa State University Iowa Environmental Mesonet shows that the I-380 corridor between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, along with areas in Dubuque and Clinton counties saw more than a foot of snow.

How Much Snow Did The Quad Cities Get?

In the western part of the Quad Cities surrounding area, residents got much more snow than the metro.

13.5 inches was reported in Lowden, 15.1 inches in Iowa City, and 12.6 inches in Lisbon.

The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities' offices are at the Davenport Airport. There, they officially recorded 10.8 inches of snow. Congrats to Stephanie Burkle on guessing the closest amount to win tickets to AJR.
