One Dead After Semi Leaves I-280 Overpass

A semi driver is dead following a fatal accident in Milan, early Wednesday morning.

According to WQAD, Milan Police received a call around 3:10 a.m. that a semi-trailer was on fire beneath the I-280 overpass.

Officials say the truck was likely on fire as it traveled on I-280 east, before falling off the overpass onto Airport Rd.

The semi-trailer continued to smoke for hours after crews put the fire out.

Authorities are trying to determine what caused the semi to leave the road.

The name of the driver is not being released at this time.
