Western Illinois Teacher Honored For Supporting Class, Family After Student’s Death

The Spring 2024 semester is rolling on and we are still heading out to a school with our awesome program with Nothing Bundt Cakes and Scooter's Coffee to honor and reward our awesome Quad Cities teachers and educators. It's called QC Teacher of the Week and we are so excited to announce this week's teacher of the week!

It's now time to announce this week's B100, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and Scooter's Coffee's QC Teacher of the Week!

Congrats to Amorah Malzewski, Art teacher at John Deere Middle School in Moline!

Ms. Malzewski recently supported and grieved with her students after they lost a classmate. Parent Nicole Mu said in her nomination in March:

My daughter goes to JD Middle School in Moline. A week ago they had a student suddenly pass away. This student had a major art project he was working on that wasn’t finished. It was a very large paper mache of the squirrel from Ice Age with his acorn. The art teacher at JD made sure that this art project was given to the family. All though it wasn’t completed the class together painted it in their unique way to help a grieving family receive their child’s last art work. When the aunt of the student who passed told me this I could not stop crying! I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it was for this teacher to make sure this was ready in time for the visitation/funeral. This is going above and beyond in such a unique way that I feel she needs to be recognized for this act of love and kindness.

What an incredible way to honor the memory of the student. Great job, Ms. Malzewski!
