Near my childhood home there was a creek called Blackadder's Creek.  It was renowned for being full of catfish, and we would dare each other to jump in. I'm not sure what exact we thought the catfish would do, but it was an ominous dare and so I would never jump in.

A Davenport man is not beholden to the same catfish fears as I am.

On Friday, he landed a 60-pound flathead catfish just east of the roller dam at Lock 15. And reports say it isn't the first time he has landed a "big one."
