It isn't Thanksgiving yet, but there are plenty of ways to find the holiday spirit in the Quad Cities.

Festival of Trees kicks off tomorrow in downtown Davenport at the RiverCenter.  The 11 day event features 100 designer trees and serves as the annual fundraiser for Quad-City Arts.

The largest helium balloon parade in the Midwest returns this weekend. Festivities include local marching bands, character balloons, clowns, floats and more. The parade steps off at 10 am on Saturday.

The Lighting on the Commons is a free annual community event that kicks off the holiday season on Saturday, November 18th from 3:30-6:00 pm in downtown Moline. Attractions that include Santa & Mrs. Claus, tractor-drawn wagon rides, live music featuring the Moline Boys Choir and Community Outreach, a children's craft area and of course, the famous Lighting Ceremony and Fireworks. Cider, and Hot Cocoa will be available to all guests between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

"Elf," the on-stage version of the 2003 Christmas movie starring Will Ferrell is opening this week at Circa 21. Shows are set for 7:45 pm, Wed., Friday and Saturday at 1:30. Sunday matiness are set for 1:30. The show runs through Dec. 30. Performances include a five entrée buffet. Contact Circa 21 ticket office for more details.
