I never had a Big Wheel as a kid, but my brothers and sister used to ride them with great enthusiasm. Now's MY chance! The River Valley Optimist Club, LeClaire, is hosting its first-ever adult Big Wheels race

on Saturday as a fundraiser for its youth programs.

Big Wheels Keep on Turnin' happens from 2-5 p.m. on the LeClaire levee with teams of four racing Big Wheels in a bracketed-style tournament. Cost is $100 per team.

I didn't know this but The River Valley Optimists support a food backpack program to help feed children in need as well as local after-prom events, youth sports, Camp Abe Lincoln scholarships, a free youth basketball clinic and kids big wheel races (Tour de LeClaire).
