The 10 Best Ways Quad Citizens Can Beat Pollen Allergies
Pollen allergies are the worst. If you are allergic to pollen, spring and fall are seemingly the worse for people like us. But we really didn't have much of spring this year which to me seems worse because typically there is time to prepare for feeling stuffed up all the time. As a fellow human who is allergic to pollen, these are the 10 best ways to help fight pollen allergies.
Remember when we had like two days of spring and then it got insanely hot? I thought maybe I was able to skip over the spring allergy season and go right into summer fun. I was wrong because the trees and plants still have to pollinate and bloom.
It is still technically springtime in the Quad Cities so I guess those of us who have pollen allergies still have to suffer. But you can suffer less with some of these tricks to help combat those seasonal allergies.
Most of the time, my go-to allergy relief is to take over-the-counter allergy medicine. My go-to medicine is Claritin and that normally works pretty well. I'm trying not to use it for the 2022 spring season but we'll see how long that lasts. Other over-the-counter medicines to combat pollen allergies include Zyrtec, Benadryl, Allegra, and many others that are antihistamines.
One of my other go-to remedies is to use a Neti Pot. I normally use it in the shower because if you've ever used a Neti Pot, you know how disgusting you can look and the process can be. A Neti Pot is also a very natural way to clear out your sinuses.
But what are other ways to defeat those pesky seasonal allergies? I hate being miserable just like the next person with seasonal allergies. I checked with WedMB (don't look up anything else on there because chances are you're dying somehow) to see what they recommend. A lot of what they recommend is super easy to do, and most are just healthy practices in general.
Before checking out the list or before going outside, check the pollen count in the Quad Cities to see if you are going to be O.K. or feel miserable all day long. You can see the day's pollen count and the pollen count forecast here. Don't forget to always consult with your primary health physician before taking any medicine. Not all of these remedies are best for children either.
Let's get to the list so you aren't miserable anymore. These are the 10 best ways to defeat pollen allergies. Stay clear out there!
