Hot temperatures in the Quad Cities mean finding water to cool off in. Most of the time you would head to a swimming pool or a splash pad, maybe even bust out the garden hose to help cool you off. But don't forget you can cool off this summer with a nice, easy float down an eastern Iowa river with your friends and some cold drinks.

If tubing on a river is part of your 2022 summer bucket list, you don't need to venture off to Colorado or somewhere far. There is an eastern Iowa river you can float down and you don't even need to bring your own tube.

Maquoketa River Rental (309 West Grove, Maquoketa) has officially announced that the 2022 float season is officially open. Get your friends together this summer to enjoy a wonderful day floating down the Maquoketa River.

Maquoketa River Rentals offers three different ways to putts down the Maquoketa River including 3-person canoes, kayaks, and inner tubes. Because you'll need some cold beverages to stay hydrated and cool in the summer heat, they also have cooler carriers for rental.

Officials from Maquoketa River Rental say they are accepting reservations for the 2022 summer season. You can make a reservation by texting or calling (563) 357-4489. Parties over two require a reservation.

Maquoketa River Rental will be officially open 7 days a week starting Monday, May 23rd, but with hot weather like we are getting this week, you can call and see if you can get on the water but you'll need to call and make a reservation before May 23rd.

Before you head to Maquoketa River Rental, officials want to remind you that they are cash or check only and to wear something on your feet for protection.

Below are the prices for items you can rent at Maquoketa River Rental:

  • 3-person Canoe - $40
  • Kayaks - $30
  • Inner tube - $20
  • Cooler Carrier - $20

Officials say that inner tube prices did go up this year due to inflation, but only by $5.
