I am by no means a beer connoisseur. To be honest, I've taken a couple brewery tours and they've told me all about hops, malts, the fermentation process. And, yeah, it's interesting, but what's most memorable to me is how it tastes.

Over the year's I've discovered where I rank on the beer scale. I enjoy lagers, Hefeweizens, sours, ciders - basically anything light. And I do have an appreciation for IPA's, but not when there's a whole day ahead of drinking.

This past weekend I took my friends from Madison to try Green Tree Brewery in Le Claire, IA. It was everyone's first time, so beer flights it was!

(**In case you didn't know: a beer flight is essentially a sampling of several beers, as shown below**)

Combined, we ordered everything on tap at Green Tree and I tried them all. Here are their beers I want to see at Quad Cities On Tap on April 16th.

    Raspberry Hefeweizen

    Green Tree Brewery

I first had this beer at the iWireless Center during one of our ladies nights and LOVED it. This beer was actually the reason I wanted to taste more beer from Green Tree.

I know what you're thinking, "ugh, I don't like girly/fruity beers," because I usually don't either. Summer Shandy? Yuck. I give those to Kevin because he's all about 'em.

So if you're looking for something that's a little out of the ordinary but still tastes/feels like a normal, light beer. This one is for you.

On the Green Tree Brewery website, the raspberry hefeweizen is listed as one of their "experimental beers."

    Mintery Knight

    Green Tree Brewery

As I stated above, I'm not into "dark" beers. Truth be told, they scare me and if I'm trying a couple different beers throughout the day I don't want to be full after one.

That being said, I was hesitant to try this one, but I'm so glad I did!

It's not heavy at all, so don't let the color throw you off. It's absolutely delicious and really does taste like mint and chocolate.

I ordered one in my flight and so did my boyfriend and after I finished mine, I continued to drink his. Sorry, Danny :)

Green Tree's website described Mintery Knight as:

"A unique flavor of coffee, mint, and chocolate that has an unbelievable taste. A must try!

And I definitely agree. Bravo, Green Tree Brewery. You broke me out of my shell!

    Hop Along Casually

    Green Tree Brewery

This was one of the rare IPA's that I could drink all day.

The perfect beer to try if you're wanting to expand your bland beer horizons. While it has the taste of a traditional IPA (so it is "hoppy"), but it's lighter and not as bitter.

Green Tree's website describes it as:

"A balance of spicy woodsy bitterness flavor and a flowery summerlike aroma. Strong on taste yet a very nice finish due to the all grain base."
