60 New Jobs Coming To Clinton From Purina Expansion
Nestle Purina is expanding its operations in Clinton and expects to add more than 60 new jobs.
According to the Clinton Herald, $140 million investment will allow Purina to meet a growing demand from pet owners for nutritious, science-based dog and cat foods using high-quality and trusted ingredients. This will also add 60 new jobs to the plant in Clinton.
The expansion will add new processing and packaging lines for the production of dry, or kibble-based, pet foods. The investment is expected to total $140 million by 2023.
Purina currently employs 360 people in Clinton. Purina established its Clinton operations in 1969. Purina has had a presence in Iowa since 1927 and also operates pet food factories in Fort Dodge and Davenport. A total of 1,000 people are employed at Purina within the state.
According to the Clinton Herald, Purina is the largest dry dog and cat food maker in the United States. Clinton's Purina factory plays a very unique role in the company. In the network of 21 factories across the country, the Clinton Purina is a hub for innovation and design of new products. Additionally, the factory produces flagship brands including Purina ONE and Purina Pro Plan. Both of those brands are experiencing double in digital growth.
This news comes only just over a week after the announcement of 130 jobs coming to Fulton, located right across the Mississippi River from Clinton. The by Timken Company is acquiring Diamond Chain, a roller chain manufacturer headquartered in Indianapolis. Timken plans to move it's headquarters to Fulton by 2022 to 2023.
