Athleisure fans will have a new in-state outlet.

If you've been on social media at all since probably 2020ish, you've likely seen influencers and celebrities wearing Alo Yoga leggings, shirts, sports bras, socks and ballcaps even. It's a very trendy brand and they're not leaving out the Midwest.

Alo Yoga (which calls their stores 'sanctuaries') stands for Air, Land, and Ocean, and is an LA-based brand founded in 2007. Originally, it was e-commerce but has expanded into over 100 brick-and-mortar locations in the U.S.

According to the Des Moines Register, Alo Yoga is set to open their first Iowa store in West Des Moines in 2026. It will be in the Jordan Creek Town Center.

Currently, according to Instagram, Oh! So In Boutique in Waterloo stocks Alo.

As Alo has been expanding, they've also opened up an Alo Sanctuary in the Mall of America. For their new location in West Des Moines, there's no specific opening date announced yet but they are set to take over the space that used to be Banana Republic. That store closed back in January after being in the mall for over 20 years.

Alo Sanctuaries are not just stores. Locations also often host in-store wellness events like wellness sessions, yoga classes, meditation sessions, and run clubs and even specialty events like acro-yoga performances with refreshments like fresh-pressed juices and smoothies. Once Iowa's new Sanctuary gets going, you'll be able to keep up with events on Alo's website. The company also has the Alo Moves fitness app.
