Alternating Currents Brings Creative Vibes to Downtown Davenport

Spanning four days and over a dozen downtown Davenport venues, Alternating Currents' third year is shaping up to be bigger than ever before. With over 100 performances, screenings, and activities, there will never be a dull moment for festival goers.

The event kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 22 with a performance by Keller Williams' Grateful Grass, which features the music of the Grateful Dead with a bluegrass twist. Another notable act is Max Weinberg, drummer for Bruce Springsteen, the E Street Band, and the Conan O'Brien show. This performance even adds an interactive element as his "Jukebox" band takes real time requests from the audience. Whatever your preferred musical genre, Alternating Currents has something for you to discover.

There will be plenty of homegrown QC talent on display, too. You'll be getting an authentic slice of the region's creative community as local artists helped plan the event in conjunction with the Downtown Davenport Partnership. From comedians and filmmakers to fine arts and crafts, Alternating Currents highlights the most unique creators in the area.

As you stroll from venue to venue, there will be plenty of awesome local food and drinks to try at downtown Davenport's numerous restaurants and bars. Maybe you'll even find a new favorite spot to visit again after the festival's over.

Along the way there will also be opportunities to watch some Pro Wrestling, hang over the side of Hotel Blackhawk, learn about the culture of drag, or attend a panel on craft beer brewing. Talk about something for everyone!

However, the only ticketed venues are Adler Theatre, Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel, and the Redstone Room @ River Music Experience. All the other venues and events are free, so don't miss this unique "artistic buffet"!
