Sad news for fans of Rib Shack in Galesburg.

The popular barbecue spot is closing its doors at the end of September after 66 years of business, according to the Quad City Times.

Owner Joe Kennedy says that although the restaurant is still doing well financially, he's ready to retire. Kennedy purchased the Rib Shack in 1984.

The restaurant is known for its sign, featuring a pig wearing an apron and a chef's hat. Along with ribs, Rib Shack also offers pork tips, catfish, fried chicken, and more.

If you've never visited the long-running restaurant, now is the time to go. We'll keep you updated when the Rib Shack announces its official closing date.
