Cancer affects just about everyone. Maybe you know someone who's had it, or maybe you've faced it yourself. In any case, it's a hard process. So, every October, we take time nationwide to raise and spread awareness of Breast Cancer.

But here in the Quad Cities, we're doing a little more. The NormaLeah Ovarian Cancer Initiative has created a new project to bring awareness to these brave women all through September and October. It's called the girlpARTS Project.

For this project, NormaLeah chose 24 local artists and paired them with 24 "community leaders" to "create artistic works of art using a three-dimension bodice form that resembles a woman’s torso." The bodices will be displayed at various locations throughout the QC until October 15.

I myself was honored to be chosen as a community leader, and you can check out the bodice I help create at the B100 studios! If you can't make it, here's a quick look:

On October 26, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., all the bodices will be shown at girlpARTs fest at River Music Experience in Davenport, and beginning on November 1, 2019, they'll be up for auction!
