Are you also counting down the days until you're able to retire and not worry about going to work? Because, same.
For some of us like me, there is still a long way to go before I get close to retiring. If you asked me now where I want to retire, you better I would tell you Florida or anywhere that's warm all of the time. Why would I want to stick around the Midwest and retire in states like Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois? Sure, I have kids but they'll come visit me in Florida.
As crazy as spending the rest of your life retired in Wisconsin, it's not as crazy as it sounds when you look at why Wisconsin was named as one of the best states to retire.
Retire In Wisconsin. It's One Of The Best States For It
Although Florida was named the best state to retire in this year, Wisconsin cracked the top 10 best states in WalletHub's updated study.
Wisconsin did so well in this study because, in the three key dimensions, Wisconsin performed alright. Wisconsin is more affordable and provides better quality of life, and health care than several other states.
If you're not currently living in Wisconsin but in Iowa instead, Iowa actually did pretty well in this study. Iowa was named the 16th best state to retire in. The housing costs being so low always help out Iowa.
Illinois on the other hand didn't do so hot. Illinois was named the 34th best state to retire in or the 16th worst state to retire in. Not the best but not the worst.
