Betty White Dead at 99
On New Year's Eve, TMZ reports that legendary actress, comedian and icon, Betty White has passed away at the age of 99.
The news comes just weeks before her 100th birthday, which would have been on January 17th.
TMZ sites law enforcement as the source of their information, who told the news outlet that Betty passed at her home Friday morning.
Betty White was a trailblazer for women in media, mostly known for her lead role as Rose Nylund in "The Golden Girls," running from 1985 to 1992.
With 115 acting credits to her name, it's worth noting that Betty got her start in radio back in the 1940's with appearances on multiple shows before eventually getting her own radio show.
In 1949, White broke into television with the show "Hollywood on Television", a variety show she later co-hosted with Al Jarvis.
Other TV credits include favorites like "Life with Elizabeth," "Date with the Angels," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "The Betty White Show," "The Love Boat," "Mama's Family," "The Golden Palace," "Ladies Man," "That '70s Show," "Higglytown Heroes," "Boston Legal," "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Pound Puppies," and "Hot in Cleveland.
A favorite of many was her appearance in "The Proposal," as she played the grandmother of Ryan Reynold's character.
