WATCH: Hilarious Body Cam Released From Tony Romo’s Wisconsin Traffic Stop
"Have you had any head injuries?" "Excuse me?"
Famed former Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo was pulled over in Wisconsin and was arrested for an alleged OWI on July 23rd.
In the body cam video from the responding officer, Romo declines to take a field sobriety test and multiple times asks if he can call his lawyer. The officer points out Romo had "red, glassy eyes" and the former QB denied drinking the booze that was in his backpack.
The officer chose not to do the tests on the high-rise bridge on southbound I-43 in Milwaukee.
The body cam video is actually hilarious, especially when the sobriety test begins in a parking garage, with the officers asking Romo, the famous NFL quarterback, if he's had "any head injuries" or "concussions". To the first question, Romo replies "Excuse me?" and says "Over the years, yes."
You have to watch it:
To be fair, I'm not sure how long I could stand on one foot sober.
Romo told officers he was coming from playing an amateur golf course and was heading to meet grandma and grandpa, but he hadn't drank. He was set to play in the Texas State Open on July 28th in Tyler, Texas, but he withdrew from that event.
First-offense OWI is not a criminal charge in Wisconsin. It's just a fine ranging from $150-$300.
Romo refused to take a breathalyzer test, citing advice from lawyers, and was arrested for OWI, as officers say he failed the standardized field sobriety tests. He has a court date set for September 21st.
