At this time in life it seems as though we have to go day by day with learning what is opening back up and what is staying closed. It looks like Cedar Rapids is making the decision to make some more openings.

According to KCRG

The city of Cedar Rapids said it is working to reopen a popular summertime attraction for area families in the city’s parks.

At this time all locations are expected to be open and operational by Wednesday, June 17. The opening of these facilities had been delayed a few different times due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Parks and recreation officials in the city are asking those who do go to the park to practice social distancing at the pads, keeping a minimum of six feet between users. More safety tips can be found here. Those who have been sick in the last two weeks, or are currently experiencing symptoms, should not use the facilities.

Many family's have been very vocal of their support in this decision. As someone who frequently went to the splash pads as a kid I can see why so many people love them. If you do end up going to a splash pad please stay safe, and smart, and follow the Parks & Rec suggestions.

The hours of the pads this Summer will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day.
