Not the Cheerios.

Let's be real: we never outgrow cereal. Sometimes a perfect dinner is just a bowl of cereal. Occasionally, I'll go on a kick with cereal (including certain flavors of Cheerios) but it looks like a wrench is about to be thrown into that.

Cereal lovers are mourning the sudden loss of Cheerios flavors, in favor of "new innovations this year" as General Mills told NBC Chicago.

The three flavors discontinued are:

  • Honey Nut Cheerios Medley Oat Crunch
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios
  • Honey Nut Cheerios Minis

If Cheerios ever gets rid of the actual Honey Nut Cheerios or the Apple Cinnamon ones, I will rebel.

The discontinuation was first reported by The Cereal Queen on Insta:

One comment on the Cereal Queen's Insta post about it said: "Choc PB Cheerios are great and I just finished a box! didn’t know it would maybe be my last".

Now, it doesn't mean they'll be gone forever. A spokesperson from General Mills said:

Much like Frosted Lemon Cheerios, which returned by popular demand, we continue to listen to our fans as we evolve our offerings

The Frosted Lemon Cheerios are making a summer comeback. So maybe if you throw enough of a fit, you can get one of your favorite flavors back? It looks like not all hope is lost.

Meanwhile, Cheerios rolled out Cheerios Protein earlier this year. That line currently includes Strawberry, Cookies & Cream, and Cinnamon.
