Between the pandemic and an inland hurricane that is technically called a Derecho, it has seem impossible to start schools back up and getting kids back to learning. Clinton was in the direct path of the derecho that hit a week ago today, and because of the damage and the state of the city, school officials in the city of Clinton have announced new start dates for students across the district.

B100 wants to help all students and parents when it comes to returning to learning. It almost seems impossible to return to learn while dealing with a global pandemic and getting hit by a derecho. Officials from the Clinton Community School District announced last week on Thursday that they have moved their start dates for staff and students.

On Thursday, the Clinton Community School District announced that the new start day for teachers was moved to today, Monday, August 17th. The original start day for teachers was Friday, August 14th.

Clinton Community School District students were originally suppose to start today. In an announcement on Facebook on Sunday, officials announced that students will start this Thursday, August 20.

According to the social media announcement, all kindergarten through 5th grade students will return to learn this Thursday.

For middle school students, day 1 cohort students will start on Thursday, and day  cohort students will start on Friday.

At the high school level, day 1 cohort students will start on Monday, August 24, while day 2 cohort students will start on Tuesday, August 25. High school students with any incompletes from the spring semester will start on Thursday.
